Hey there! I just wanted to send out a quick post about our performance for Brandeis Buddies this semester.
According to their website, Brandeis Buddies seeks to build friendships between Brandeis student volunteers and adults with developmental disabilities who work on campus.
We weren't sure what to expect, so we prepared a couple of fun songs and went in with smiles on our faces. And we were so honored by the respect and appreciation we received from the audience. They were SO happy to have a performing for them and they even told us how much they liked our songs when we were done. We hope we get to do this more often, it was a lovely, cheerful experience!
We'd also like to recognize Brandeis Buddies for creating such an important initiative on campus. Well done!We are so happy to see this kind of work going on around us - and we were honored to take part.
Oops! The semester passed and there are no updates on the blog! How did that happen?? Oh well, we'll fix it now.
The beginning of the semester was pretty slow, especially with February break four weeks after classes started! When we got back, we had the honor of performing at Baruch (Brandeis' Reform Chavura) Casino Night! It was a classy event and we noticed plenty of candy on all of the gambly tables. Well done, Baruch! We performed our go-to power song, Chelek Mimcha, and ended on an even higher note by debuting one of our new songs - Machmaot! The song features Zoey (with Coby and me on backup vocals) and is about refusing to place a value on a woman's worth! Preach! (This will come up again in relation to our other semester debut).
It was a good time had by all. Can't wait to (hopefully) do it again next year!
Manginah would like to wish a heartfelt welcome to our newest members, Zach Silver '16 and Matt Lee '15! We are thrilled to add two new tenors to the group and have already begun to feel the new members' presence in our Manginah family. Manginah took everyone out to Ta'am China to celebrate last Saturday night and we look forward to many more occasions to celebrate together! It's gonna be a great semester!
Pictures are on the way...
