"I know some day it'll all turn around because
...for Olot B'Manginot! And luckily, I don't have to wait any longer, because the CD IS FINALLY HERE! Manginah has spent the entire week celebrating the arrival of our CD with our family and friends. On Saturday night, we invited all friends and fans of Manginah to join our excitement in anticipation the CDs arrival, but first we started the night off with just us Manginah-ers (and some alumni) lighting Chanukkah candles and toasting this recent achievement. It was a special moment for all of us (and a very harmonic Ma'Oz Tzur).
After we had our fill of partying, we had nothing left to do but wait...and wait...and wait....and then rip open the box AS FAST AS POSSIBLE once it arrived. And it was more than we had hoped for.
There's not much else I can say, except get your copy as soon as you can because once you have it you'll listen to it over and over again (at least, if you're anything like my mom). It couldn't happen without all of your support, so thank you! And keep checkin' for Mangi-updates!
On Sunday, December 9th, Manginah volunteered at the Jewish Family and Children Services (JFCS) in Waltham. We sang Modeh Ani, V'eich Shelo, Ani Chavatzelet HaSharon, Mashehu Chadash, and Chelek Mimcha (all of which are featured on our new CD!) for the elderly and volunteers coming in for a special Chanukkah celebration! This was such a fun performance for us - we've noticed that our volunteer performances are always sweet and gratifying. People really appreciate free entertainment! We especially loved talking to all of them afterward about our music and our ambitions for the future!
"You really did help to create a fun atmosphere and make our guests feel special. Thank you!" --Sue Spielman, Coordinator of The Friendly Visitor Program
Picture to come!
It's been a busy week for Manginah! On Thursday (11/29), we entertained as part of a silent auction in our very own student center (the SCC). It was fun to fill such a big room with our sound and to see people stopping as they walked through to listen to our music!
Over the weekend, we had our Manginah generation's first Bat Mitzvah performance! Four of us stayed over for Shabbat and got to know the Bat Mitzvah girl and her family (including Brandeis' very own Bryan Flatt '12), and then the rest of us arrived on Saturday morning to add to the celebration and festivities! First, we sang the guests into the social hall and then, for the first time, we sang Hava Nagilah (the Hora) and led all of the friends and family in the traditional "grapevine" dance that accompanies the Hora. Then, we sang some of our favorite songs during lunch and dessert, and got ourselves treated to some fantastic, catered food! It was a first for many of us and a unique performance for the group!
Last night, on Sunday (12/2), Manginah had the privilege of opening for MIT's Techiyah's Fall Semester Show: The Case of the Missing Menorah. We had so much fun singing for this new crowd of people, and we were thoroughly impressed and entertained by Techiyah's performance, skits and parodies included! A shout out to the group for making us feel so welcome, and even inviting us to their after party! We hope to keep in touch.
Thanks for reading - check back soon for more updates. And DON'T FORGET - Our newest CD, Olot B'Manginot comes out a week from tomorrow on Tuesday, December 11th!!
