Last sunday, April 21st, Manginah had its 19th Spring Semester Show! And what a show it was. Manginah: A Love Story featured all of the members of Manginah singing love advice to our frazzled HIllary Schulman, who started the show revealing to us and the audience that she was having relationship problems. Mathew told her her problems were an existential void as he sang Vi'eich Shelo; Jenna told her she should be treated like a flower ("Ani Chavatzelet HaSharon"); Racheli and Matt put some perspective on "boundary issues" by radically comparing Hillary's relationship to the Jewish state ("Ani Ma'amin"); Jess suggested stalking her soulmate ("Ito LaNetzach"); and Zoey kept us all in check by making sure we didn't shower Hillary with too many consolation compliments ("Machmaot"). And more!!
It was a great success and we felt so proud to sing all of these great songs for our friends and family. Then...at the end I (Gabriella) was in for a surprise, when Louis ('12) came up from the audience and - with Manginah's melodic help - proposed to me in song!!
The show certainly ended with a bang, and the video of the proposal is getting the group some GREAT publicity. Feel free to check it out below!
We are wrapping up the semester, but not before voting in next year's board! I am proud to announce that next year's Manginah board will be (drumroll...)
Coby Fleischman (President)
Jenna Kahane (Musical Director)
Racheli Berkovitz (Business Manager)
Zach Silver (Secretary)
Gabriella Feingold (Board Member Liaison)
My current position, Historian, has yet to be filled...but have no fear! You will always get your favorite Mangi-updates.
And that's it for the semester! Happy Spring and Summer and we'll see you next year!!
